People can call the shelter at 667-2020 to request their certificate. Certificates can be redeemed at all local and several central North Dakota veterinary clinics. Spay Day USA is sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) with the primary goal of increasing the number of pets being spayed and neutered and decreasing the number of unwanted puppies and kittens born each year. Thanks go to Dr. Jim and Jane Clinkenbeard of Devils Lake for their ongoing support of our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, and to the other generous donors who have made this program possible. Previously registered CDHS volunteers can arrange to perform their regular volunteer duties (walking dogs, critter companion, office help, etc.) Volunteers who are not registered with CDHS as a volunteer can perform a Needs List Collection. To complete the Needs List Collection, 10 items from the Needs List must be delivered to the shelter during open shelter hours. The delivery of the donation must be accepted and verified by a CDHS staff member. Each family member who is interested in completing this volunteer activity will need to donate 10 items (i.e., a family of 4 will need to donate 40 items from the Needs List). Once this is done CDHS will confirm that the Needs List Collection has been completed and you will need to complete the information at the Disney web site. Get additional information at the Disney web site. Donate A Kuranda Bed to CDHSThe “Donate A Bed” program was created to enable pet lovers to help bring a bit of the same comfort to these deserving shelter animals that yours enjoy at home. CDHS co-produces “Destination Pets,” a program that explores the challenges,
rewards and responsibilities of pet ownership.
The program is hosted by volunteer Rig Olsen and includes interesting and knowledgeable guests (veterinarians, groomers, trainers, etc) from the Bismarck and Mandan area. The program is produced along with Dakota Media Access and can be seen on Community Access, cable channel 12 or viewed online here www.dakotamediaaccess.org. Thank you to the staff at Dakota Media Access and to Rig Olsen. Their enthusiasm for the project and willingness to work with our organization have helped us get our CDHS message out to many more people in our community.
