Visit the Central Dakota Humane Society

The Central Dakota Humane Society extends an open invitation to visit our facility and meet the CDHS pets.  We are so fortunate to have many, many visitors throughout the week, and we've heard from people who describe the shelter as their "happy place" - a place to come if you are having a bad day and need a little furry comfort - purred welcomes, tail wags, head butts and whisker rubs.  We've also heard from people who say that they just can't visit the shelter because they would feel too sad.  If you feel this way, please remember that CDHS is a no-kill shelter and our animals have a home with us until they find their forever family.  With the help of our employees and volunteers, our animals are well-socialized, exercised and loved.  So don't hold back and worry about how sad you will feel about coming to the shelter.  Rather, think about all those tail wags and head butts you might be missing!

If you share our love for cats and dogs and wish to interact with them in a personal and meaningful way, check into our Critter Companion volunteer program - it's designed to be beneficial to both people and animals.  The cats and dogs truly appreciate the one-on-one time our generous volunteers spend with them - special time and attention that's exclusively theirs.  You'll make their day and they may just do the same for you!
